Eligibility Requirements

In order to receive a grant, the applicant needs to be a 501(c) (3) nonprofit organization based in the United States. Our mission is to fund organizations advancing youth education (K-12) and faith-based nonprofits. Applications are by invite only, however, interested nonprofits are encouraged to submit an inquiry form located below.

While there are exceptions, the foundation's primary geographic area of interest is Florida, with a focus on central Florida.

Organizations that receive a Brotherton Foundation grant are not eligible to receive another grant within an 18-month period. With two grant cycles each year (April and October), grantees will not be re-invited to apply for the next two cycles. For example, an organization awarded a grant in October 2025 may be eligible to apply again if invited in April 2027.

While the Brotherton Foundation values ongoing relationships, receiving a grant does not guarantee an invitation to apply in future grant cycles.

The average grant award range is  $10,000 - $15,000.

Deadlines for Grant Cycles

The Brotherton Foundation makes distributions twice each year:  April and October. The foundation receives grant applications year-round. However, the following dates are deadlines to be considered for each respective distribution:
April distribution -- Grant application needs to be in by March 1st.
October distribution -- Grant application needs to be in by September 1st.
